The
Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos reports
that:
The the
general level of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Federal Capital
(Greater Buenos Aires) registered a 1.3% increase over August and a 39.7%
spike compared to December 2001. When compared to the same month
last year the index experienced a 38.5% increase.
The following is a summary of the price variations for each
category in the basket for the IPC-GBA can be observed in Table 1.

Goods prices, which represent 53% of the basket, experienced a 2.1%
monthly variation, while service prices, which account for the balance,
experienced a 0.2% monthly increase. When compared to the same month
last year goods and services prices rose 67.2% and 10.0% respectively.
