The
Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos reports
that:
The the
general level of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Federal Capital
(Greater Buenos Aires) registered a 0.51% increase over the previous month
and a 40.7% increase compared to December 2001. When compared to the
same month last year the index experienced a 40.6% increase.
The following is a summary of the price variations for each
category in the basket for the IPC-GBA can be observed in Table 1.

Goods prices, which represent 53% of the basket, experienced a
0.7%
monthly variation, while service prices, which account for the balance,
experienced a 0.2% monthly increase. When compared to the same month
last year goods and services prices rose 68.5% and 10.7% respectively.
