The
National Statistical Institute (INDEC, Instituto Nacional de
Estadística y Censos) reports that:
The value of exports in November 2002 reached US$ 2.176
billion, which represented a 3% increase over the same month last year.
The November figure resulted from a 6% increase in export prices over
November 2001, as the quantity export dropped 2% for the same period.
Meanwhile, imports registered US$ 807
million, which was a 39% decline over the same month last year. The
low import figure was attributed to a 37% decline in the quantity imported
compared to the November 2001 and a 4% drop in prices for the same period.
As a result, the trade balance in November 2002
registered a US$ 1.369 billion surplus, which was well above the US$ 773 millones de dólares
surplus for the same month last year.
