The
Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos reports
that:
The the
general level of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Federal Capital
(Greater Buenos Aires) registered a 1.32% increase over the previous month
and a 39.6% increase compared to the same month last year. When compared to
December 2001, the index experienced a 42.8% increase.
The following is a summary of the price variations for each
category in the basket for the IPC-GBA can be observed in Table 1.

Goods prices, which represent 53% of the basket, experienced a
0.8%
monthly variation, while service prices, which account for the balance,
experienced a 2.1% monthly increase. When compared to December 2001 goods and services prices rose
70.0% and 13.5% respectively.
