That the
Broad National Consumer Price Index (Índice Nacional de Preços ao
Consumidor Amplo (IPCA) rose 1.31% in October, which was 0.59 percentage
points above the previous month's result (the September IPCA was (0.72%). As a result, the accumulated
variation for this year reached 6.98%, above the 6.22% observed for the
same period last year. For the past 12 months, the index was
situated at 8.45%, exceeding the reading for the 12-month through
September (7.93%). In October of 2001, the monthly variation was
0.83%.
