The
Chilean Central Bank
reports:
In June,
Chilean output, as measured by the monthly indicator for economic activity
(IMACEC, Indicator Mensual de Actividad Económica), expanded by
0.3% compared with the same month last year. Measured by factor
costs, economic activity expanded by 0.4%. The accumulated growth
rate in the first half of the year was 1.6%. According to seasonally
adjusted data, the economy dropped by 0.1% over the preceding month.
The June
reading was influenced by torrential rainfalls in the beginning of the
month, which hampered economic activity. Moreover, copper mines
reduced their output and some branches of the industrial sector registered
lower activity. Finally, in the services sector, telecommunications
observed lesser dynamism than in the same month last year.
