The
Chilean Central Bank
reports:
In July,
Chilean output, as measured by the monthly indicator for economic activity
(IMACEC, Indicator Mensual de Actividad Económica), expanded by
2.1% compared with the same month last year. Measured by factor
costs, economic activity expanded by 2.5%. The accumulated growth
rate in the first seven months of the year was 1.7%.
The July
reading was influenced by the fact that July 2002 counted two working days
more than the same month last year. As a result, according to
seasonally adjusted data, the economy dropped by 0.4% over the preceding
month.
