The
National Statistical Institute (INE, Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas)
reports:
In August, industrial
production dropped 1.0% compared to the same month last year. In the
period from January 2002 to August 2002, the industrial production index
experienced an expansion of 1.4% compared with the same period last year. Moreover, the moving quarterly and
annual averages show increases of 1.9% and 1.1% respectively.
It should be noted that
August this year counted one working day less than August 2001, which
reduced the above mentioned results.
