The numbers in detail

The increase in the general price level as measured by the National Index of Consumer Prices was 0.60% in September.  As a result, annual headline inflation dropped from 5.29% in August to 4.95% in September.

The September inflation was mainly the consequence of surging prices for education, which rose more than 3% in the month.  Furniture as well as food, beverages and tobacco prices dropped in September, mitigating the overall price increase.

The price index for core inflation increased a much lesser 0.20% in September.  As a result, the annual core inflation rate dropped from 3.95% in August to 3.85% in September.
