The numbers in detail

 

The increase in the general price level as measured by the National Index of Consumer Prices was 0.81% in November.  As a result, annual headline inflation rose from 5.0% in October to 5.4% in November.

The November inflation was mainly the consequence of surging prices for household gas and higher electricity tariffs.

The price index for core inflation increased a much lesser 0.22% in November.  As a result, the annual core inflation rate also remained virtually unchanged at 3.8%.
