In
November ,
the industrial sector declined at an annual rate of 0.5% in real terms,
owing to weak performance in the manufacturing industry.
According to seasonally adjusted data, the industrial sector
dropped 0.11%
over the preceding month. In the first eleven months, the industrial
sector dropped 0.2% over the same period last year.

On an annual basis, the
manufacturing industry declined by 1.3%, as the
domestic industry dropped by 1.5%, partially offset
by a 0.3% increase in the maquiladora industry.
Construction grew 1.7% and the electricity, gas and water sector added
1.2% compared to
the same month 2001.
Mining developed favourably,
adding 3.2% on an annual basis. The
improvement was driven by a
decline in the oil industry (-2.9% year-on-year) and
an increase in non-oil mining
(+12.4% yoy).
