The
National Statistical Institute (INEGI, Instituto Nacional de
Estadística Geografía e Informática) reports:
In
November, the monthly indicator for economic activity (IGAE,
Indicador Global de la Actividad Económica) registered an increase of
0.9% in real terms compared with the same period last year. This was
notably worse than the 2.7% annual increase reported for October (revised
upward from 2.6% growth reported on 10 January 2003). Moreover,
according to seasonally adjusted data, the economy
contracted 0.75% in
November
over the preceding month.
On a
sectoral basis, agriculture declined 6.9%
(October: -3.8% year-on-year), industry dropped
0.5% (Oct: + 1.3% yoy) and services grew 2.4%
compared to the same month last year (Oct: +3.2% yoy).
