The numbers in detail

The National Statistical Institute (INEGI, Instituto Nacional de Estadística Geografía e Informática) reports:

In December, the trade balance incurred a deficit of US$ 1.2 billion, according to preliminary data.  The deficit was slightly higher than the US$ 1.2 billion deficit registered in November 2002.  The annual trade deficit dropped from US$ 8.1 billion in November to US$ 8.0 billion in December and was thus well below the US$ 10.0 billion deficit registered in 2001.
